“Every Knee Shall Bow”
John The Apostle has been banished to Patmos, an island in the Aegean Sea. History tells us that he had been boiled in oil.
What did it cost John to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
1.It nearly cost him his life!
The other 11 are gone, he is left alone.
2.He was willing to give up his family business. Matthew 4:22
3.It cost him persecution!
Hebrews 11:32-40 We know nothing about persecution.
How do we endure persecution? Hebrews 11:27 “See Him who is invisible.”
Philippians 2:10 & 11
“What is Your Relationship Regarding Your Knees and Your Tongue?”
There are only 2 Groups of people; I’m not talking about “the Saved & the Lost…”
1.There are those; like John,
Who bow their knees NOW & will bow their knees in Heaven
Those who; love the lord Jesus Christ,
worship Him with their tongue AND their testimony (they are vastly different!)
can truely say: “Jesus is all the world to me…”
2.The Second group; are the ones who WILL bow one day, but do not bow today.
The Unsaved are in this group
The Ungodly are in this group
Yes, Wicked sinners are in this group
But; There are a host of Gods’ children,
Too preoccupied to bow
Too proud to confess
Too backslidden to care
I Corinthians 16:22 “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maran-atha.”
I.What is YOUR private personal relationship to Jesus regarding your knees and your tongue?
A.How is your prayer life? Matthew 6:6, I Thessalonians 5:17
When your knees are bowed daily, regularly:
1.Your tongue will be right, you will confess Jesus!
2.Your testimony will be pleasing to the Lord!
B.We Choose to Whom we bow our knees.
We choose where our heart is invested.
C.I John 2:15-17 Scripture instructs us: “Love Not the world!”
D.Jesus told Martha; Luke 10:42 “one thing is needful” It was WORSHIP !
II.Every Knee SHALL bow!
A.The Lost will bow one day
B.Gods’ children will bow one day
The ones who gladly bow now, will gladly bow then
A heart that loves the Lord looks for opportunities to bow, confess, yield, submit, & worship!
C.The ones who refuse, resist, & rebel to bow here will bow there
III.Consider John on Patmos
A.He suffered because he bowed his knees to Jesus
B.It’s one thing to bow and confess when things are going good; it’s another level of love to bow and confess when things do not
turn out the way you expected. When you go through trials and tribulations.
Revelation 1:9 “patience” I Peter 2:20
Job 1:20-22, Hebrews 5:8
1.John continued being faithful! He was a “servant” Revelation 1:1
2.He stayed close to his Salvation experience. Revelation 1:5
3.He looked to the future. Revelation 1:6
4.He continued to glorify God and His Father. Revelation 1:6
5.He looked to the Second Coming of Christ. verse 7
Where are you in relation to the Lord Jesus Christ in bowing your knee and confessing with your tongue?
To bow tomorrow, and neglect today is to have nothing to show for this life.
To bow today, and bow tomorrow is to glorify God today and receive reward in Glory!
